Vic: Dog cams to help police go where humans can't
MELBOURNE, Feb 20 AAP - Dogs with cameras mounted on their heads are to be used tohelp police search collapsed buildings and find missing people.
In an Australia-first initiative by Victoria Police, dog cams will be used to aid policein situations too difficult or risky for humans.
Assistant Commissioner Ray Shuey said the lightweight cameras would be mounted on dog'sheads and the images relayed to a remote police monitor.
He said unlike other international models that mounted the cameras to the dogs' chests,the Victorian model enabled police to view everything a dog looked at.
