FED: Govt denies plans to close Williamstown base = 2
Victoria's Manufacturing Industry Minister ROB HULLS has challenged incoming Defence
Minister PETER REITH, a Victorian, to guarantee the future of the Williamstown dockyard.
Speaking on ABC Radio Mr HULLS said it would be a sell-out as far as Mr REITH is concerned,
as it would show that he's not fair dinkum about Victorian jobs.
He says the acid test is now on Mr REITH as the new Defence Minister to ensure a large
chunk of the work arising out of the defence White Paper is done in Victoria.
He says his government has been in constant communication with Tenix.
Mr HULLS says they have indicated they are very keen to expand in Victoria.
